Bridgette Sweeney

The plot itself was the same predictable narrative that we as Black Americans have come to know all too well. I personally felt that the movie was depressing and a bit slow at times. I wanted a happy ending or at least some resolution. That being said, the acting and directing were superb. The imagery and the colors were beautiful and lush. I noticed some elements that were reminiscent of some of the Spike Lee movies that I've seen in the past. All in all, I wanted to like this movie because of all of the hype but unfortunately, I just didnt.
