Michael Tolkin must've known the show couldn't just be a behind the scenes historical biopic but something else. I loved it. Paramount and Gulf & Western drama plus the endless mafia interference and aggression, interpersonal intrigue, iconic moments from the iconic film, and many surprise performances (Betty for the win!) -- this is the Golden Globes and Emmys show to beat. Direction was jaw dropping (Alan Arkin especially). Writing was precise and always one step ahead of the audience. I absolutely loved the show.
