Since everyone has their own interpretations of this movie, I'll give mine. It's a great exploration of human history up to space travel. Kubrick hits everything on the t here. Arthur C. Clarke and Kubrick also wrote a great script with great use of classical music. Basically, it's the master filmmaker's masterpiece as someone once put it.
