I really enjoyed this show. For me it wasn’t a battle of Viking’s or England. It was about the battle that one person can have in his whole life in mind. The battle of who we are or who we want to be. To me this show was a battle between what he Uhtred) supposed to be and what he truly wanted to be. A battle between the mind and heart. He was torn between the love he had for where he was born ( the stone on his sword, his son name and the land he claimed it’s his but taken by uncle) and the love he developed from a strange place that became his second home (the enemy’s land) . He doubted his gods as a Dane and the God he was baptised for. While he was hearing his heart voice, still makes decisions based on what he thought he was supposed to do as duty. As much as he built his reputation with his word and sword, he didn’t listen to his heart many times and faces the consequences. It also shows us that we are different people in different situations.
But in season 3 I was kinda disappointed that he didn’t care to go back and take care of his own kids. He was just too busy dealing with the king and I think his kids deserved better care from their only parent!!
