Wonderful film about racism, oppression and passing. This woman reinvented herself to live a better life, but appears anxious and ill at ease in her new environment.
Her past appears to be in her rearview mirror so to speak, so the presence of blackness is terrifying to her. Her children's arrival made her so unhinged that she cannot cope with the collapse of her white world. Fleeing is her way out of guilt, shame and failure on all levels. Love it.
