You're actually better off playing this game's Mario adaptation instead of the original. Not only is Super Mario Bros. 2/Super Mario USA more readily available, it also has several improvements and new features like more detailed animations, a run button, and Clawgrip instead of another Mouser fight. This game is still pretty good though, as the level design and general gameplay doesn't change all that much between versions.
