Sigrid has previous miscarriage and also has issues with her health. Lorenzo has history of alcohol abuse. He didn't have good relations with his previous daughters. Sigrid is a perfectionist. She is afraid to lose one more of her child and hence does everything she can to save it. The reason why she deludes her husband with some other child and keeps her child in a secured biological lab in the basement. She definitely has some mental conditions but I think she is just trying to be protective of her child.
