A disservice to the original. I understand taking a new approach to the love story, and updating some of the violence and action scenes. This was adding violence and gore that was out of context and unnecessary. Definitely had moments of sociopathic indifference to violence by the main character that was not in line with his character as a whole. It's unfortunate because the acting was great. The film quality and artistry behind it was great. The new twist to the story made sense, though lacked some explaining. The amount of gore and graphic detail was just over the top. They almost need to create a new rating beyond R for the gore and violence in this film. I felt bad for the few other people in the theater trying to eat dinner and watch the film. You could just see the disappointment on people's faces as they left the theater. No wonder there were only 6 people in the theater for such a new movie on a weekend night. Guess I should have looked at the reviews and not just the trailer. Waste of a night out with an expensive babysitter.
