In my opinion, Abrams manages to pull it off and end the saga beautifully and fulfillingly.
Ends were tied, questions were answered and the story was an epic one worthy of the franchise.
I'm glad he got to end the story he started with Force Awakens and at the same time, correct? most of the somewhat misleading mysteries from The Last Jedi.
I was sitting at the edge of the seat the entire time and was awestruck by events and happenings throughout the film. I must've exclaimed: "Wow", "I knew it" and "Yes.!!" at least a dozen times.
But it's not a film you'd get fully from just one time in the theatre. There are so many things and events transpiring in it, that you end up with an information overload after just one time watching it.
I had the same experience after Force Awakens. And I thoroughly LOVED this film too.
