Yeah, the camera is shaky, very shaky NEAR... THE... END... This is not for people who can't handle a lot of movement from the camera. If you don't like roller coasters, probably not for you.
If you like the found footage genre, then you will love this. Still one of my favorite horror movies of all time. AND YES it's a remake of another film REC. Which I also liked, but I personally perfer this one. Also REC, is a Spanish film. They budget on REC was definately "lower budget".
It starts out with a nice beat (not too slow, just enough back story, but not overboard) and evenly progresses towards a zombie filled, adrenaine driven, terror fest. If you put this up on a big screen, turn the lights out and have an immersive experience, it can feel like it's own attraction. I always feel like I am on a ride of sorts.
As it continues the camera does get very shaky, but oh well. Personally, I think it adds to the building tension.
It's NOT an existential indie film! Think more paranormal activity and NOT Midsommar (ehhh I don't want to be ponding the possiblities of man kind while watching a horror film).
Kind of a cross between Paranormal Activity, Grave Encounters and Contagion.
It's just a good all-around horror flick, for fun. If you want to get the pants scared off you, like I said, throw it on a big screen with big sound and enjoy :)
If you want something more cerebral, this is not it.
