Andrew C (Filmneye)

One of the most original films I've ever seen. It speaks to our times of the pernicious power of social media in our society and consciousness. The film has a wickedly appropriate dark sense of humor, and is not for everyone, esp. the younger generation who are already in too deep under the spell of social media. That probably accounts for some of the undeserved low ratings this film has already gotten. Because it burst their precious bubble.

This film has a very slow pace as the director is trying to create an ominous atmosphere, but the buildup doesn't need to take so long. There is no real flow to the film as most of the scenes feel rather disjointed going from one to the next. To be honest, the film never actually gelled for me. Also, all of the main characters aren't very likeable. I never really cared about what would happen to them. One of the characters is very obnoxious & irritating. So much so, that I was hoping she'd be killed off soon. But nope, no such luck. You'll know what I'm talking about early into the film. There are some clever ideas in the film, but not enough to sustain one's interest for 2+ hrs. So, is this film worth seeing? Nope!

The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then the Bigfoot

Most film critics and viewers have completely missed the central theme of this brilliantly conceived film. The film's fantastical title of Sam Elliott's main character's legendary heroic feats is just that - fantastical because it's pure fiction, meaning that Calvin has only conjured up these heroic acts to compensate for his lonely, empty existence borne out of his chickening out on his planned marriage proposal to his true love before shipping out to fight in WWII. The title heroic acts are meant to be fantastical because they never really happened.

This film draws you into McKellen's Sherlock Holmes character from the very 1st scene, and takes you on his internal journey of wanting to crack his last case, which he had left unsolved and caused him to go into retirement. It's a very absorbing film and has a rather surprising, ironic twist at the end, which serves as a valuable Life lesson that even Holmes at the age of 93 hadn't learned yet! Acting and music in this film are great!
