Although the acting was very good, the plot was thin, as if there really wasn't any point to be made other than women are not safe in Delhi. Characters were not developed fully, nor were back stories adequately explained. I had to read a movie review to discover Soni was divorced. The action was very slow, and the scenes kept switching household's without convincing transitions. Very boring in places.

The ending was sad and confusing. It was more about the couples deteriorating relationship than anything else.

It is everything the critics said it would be. The cinematography is spectacular, in an almost impressionistic view in some shots. The landscape is breathtaking. Farm life is realisticly depicted, I can almost feel Hortense shoulders and knees aching with each step she takes behind that plow. There is such minimal dialogue at times I felt like I was in a silent film. And the ending greatly disappointed me. I felt like there should be some closure, especially for Francine, George and their son. Surely there is more to that story than a song and lingering gazes across a bar room? I loathe endings like this, and feel like I wasted my time watching this movie.
