I love melodramas in the Douglas Sirk mold. Sylvia's Love while a beautiful film doesn't quite hit the standard. Nonetheless, it's a decent and well-intentioned film. The chemistry between the main characters wasn't always present and the were plot holes (Hello, Mona?) that needed a little more development but overall the film is above good, so I'd add another half/three-quarter star if I could to my review.
All of the above said, Sylvia's Love (and why didn't somebody think of writing a song with that same title for Robert to play?), is worthy of a watch.
