I have never understood why this film has virtually disappeared except for some available VHS tapes. No DVDs, no streaming, not even available from HBO who produced it. It is one of my all time favorite films, with a biting but believable critiques of American criminal justice system and its reliance on plea bargaining to make the system work. Innocent or guilty, the plea bargain offers a way out of pretrial detention and a possible guilty finding even for the innocent. Forrest Whitaker's acting in this movie is simply extraordinary. I only wish I could get a copy of it on BVD or Blu-ray, or find it streaming. I would gladly pay a premium to have it or even see it again. It's an American classic.
