Wish my highschool was this fun. The characters are all lovable!

It is with great pleasure that I highly recommend this film... And I must have been hiding under a rock because I have never seen a promo or trailer for this, surprisingly. But what a gem... Oh what a gem to stumble upon it. My mind can't fathom the brilliant acting of Sir Anthony Hopkins and Jonathan Pryce (throughout the whole film I was trying to place who he was in GoT. He's the High Sparrow!). I've seen Joaquin Phoenix's Joker and thought "who could top that stellar acting" and the ensemble cast of The Irishman was a joy to witness... But my oh my. The intellectual, comic banter between Hopkins and Pryce is so satisfying it's like crawling into a warm bed after being out in the rain. You forget you're watching two actors playing a character. They are the character. The brilliant writing is so wise to make you distrust Ratzinger initially but then as the story progresses you become more and more invested in him, and finally understanding him and even rooting for him. You see the pain and regret in Francis Oscars - you better get this right. Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor! ❤️

The only thing I learned is divorce is messy. The process makes two normal people show their worst side. It's saddening that divorce laws are never fair. Two stars I'm afraid because I watched it right after watching "Your Name" which evoked more emotion out of me and made me feel really invested with the characters. I didn't feel the love between them. It was more like "I'm trying to do the best thing here coz I'm a decent person so I'm not gonna hate you so much. I just love myself more". The kid is surprisingly coping well which is not really realistic. The acting is superb. The story itself Just not my cup of tea. It is good, but NOT Oscar-worthy. I mean, compare it with the crazy ambitiousness of "Parasite". Overall, not a movie I'll watch again or remember. I endured to the end only because I was waiting for that bamm! wow! moment that never came.

This film is officially inducted into my Top 5 Worst Films of All Time... And probably the worst movie I've come across on Netflix. And yes I watched it til the end just coz I wanted to have a laugh at the ridiculousness of it all but ended up being disgusted with myself for wasting an hr on this mess of a movie. 1. The acting. Wow. Just wow. To think that Brenda Song is an "awarded" young actress. And the guy who played that creeper? Zero acting skills eventhough checking his IMDB, he has been in a couple of pretty impressive films and shows. Which begs the question - how could you be in the industry for so long, and yet still NOT improve? And poor Denis Haysbert. That guy has talent but wasted on this film. 2. The writing. I've read fan fiction better than this. My diary is written better than this. It's like a couple of highschool kids with fancy equipment told to shoot a film over the weekend. 3. Netflix why? 4. The title. The trailer.
