I think this series is great and bad at the same time. There is something off, maybe just because we are not used to the Weekend (Tedros) acting, but in his music videos he does act (but while singing). We are not used to a talking Abel. I think that's where the disconnect is. I can tell that this series is an extension of his brand identity of the rich and famous, drugs and music and being true to yourself in this cut-throat music business infusing it with a troubled soul.
Bare in mind, I am huge fan of the Weekend but I don't think Tedros gave us a convincing role to make Lily (Joycelin) fall under his control in that level of a controlling manner. Joycelin easily welcomed Tedros, without seeing a red flag when he quickly told her he should move in and the way he treated her sister and quickly getting rid of everyone who was in her life and quickly bringing his 'gang of friends' to live with them was big red flag on it's own.
With that said, Joycelin rose up to her role and has been doing a fantastic job.
I'm up to episode 3, it's growing on me and I love it.
I think we all take something from a TV show or series, some focus on the acting, some on the cast, plot, production and lighting. I rate it a 4/5 because I am here for the music; and the music is really good (including the background and transition music). The dancers are do a great job, the 'gang' Tedros brings along can sing well, the piona skills are mad crazy and vocals are clean. They turn her house into this great studio and creative yet toxic environment but the music flows and everyone finds themselves in song... It makes up for all the flaws they have in its production and acting.
It's really growing on me and I'm hooked. I cannot wait to see what happens at E4 & E5
