In isolation, it’s “ok” & certainly an improvement on The Last Jedi but as a trilogy it all feels improvised on the spot with no real ending other than to kill off some legacy characters, move other legacy characters to the periphery, bring in new characters who either don’t contribute to the plot or whose stories don’t go anywhere. A lot like Abrams TV work which starts well but loses itself and doesn’t know what to do with its characters or how to end. (Lost and Fringe being examples)
The Action sequences fail to flow and lack coherence and are tenuous at best and ultimately feels like the entire thing was solely to cash in on the franchises popularity rather than provide fans new and old with an engrossing progression from the saga into new and exciting stories. It all just feels randomly cobbled together in the hope that we won’t notice.
An opportunity missed ultimately.
