I finally need to say something to Melissa. This was about a callous, entitled comment she made many months ago, which still affects me. She said she only showers and would never take a bath where you are sitting in all the dirt you are trying to wash off. Then she made a disgusted face at even the thought of a bath.
I want you to know, Melissa, that someday you may not be young anymore, or may become disabled. To those of us who cannot stand, and a nice warm bath is one of the few joys left, I want to say that one of my treasured moments has been ruined by your thoughtless remark. Now, when I use a lift to lower myself into a tub of sudsy warm water, your harsh comment surfaces, and I think " Am I sitting in a bunch of dirt?" You have definitely left a cruel feeling for me....as words can do.
As you so often let everyone know that you were a former teacher, I want you to know that I feel sorry for your students who come from different cultures, have emotional or physical problems, or come from poverty. Your television comments are often hurtful, callous and from your own entitlement. I cannot see that you would be any different with your students.
You, of all people, as a teacher, should know the long impact of hurtful, unthinking comments.
I do not watch the program anymore and feel sorry for those taking the brunt of your one-sided, often hurtful remarks.
I have never written in on anything like this before, but feel I need to speak up for those who can't.
