Tedious. No detecting at all in the Christie manner as described. Cheap and tired effects such as suddenly-banging windows and doors and lights crashing to the ground, a lot of running around (where to? And why?) The “Venice” in the title is just to attract attention and possibly viewers, but there are only the briefest of glimpses of the “tourist” Venice one would like to see. The supposedly haunted house could be any house on the outskirts of Venice, albeit with water lapping at the walls. Lines were often mumbled by the actors so what was happening had to be deduced from the context. I recommend you stay at home comfortably on the sofa with a glass in your hand, watching something on the box.

Terrible movie - don’t waste your time or money. My rule of thumb is: If after twenty minutes, the film hasn’t made you laugh, cry, scream or gasp, leave. The producer is the same, as is the scriptwriter - so it won’t get better. Disjointed, very long close-ups of Dev Patel (mostly his hair), supposedly impressive / frightening voices, unintelligible and incomprehensible dialogue - and what is the point of the Green Knight and his challenge? Well, I’ll never know (I hope) as we got up after an hour of yawning and left. I suggest you do, too!
