If there was one word i would use to describe the theme of this book, it would be sacrifice. The sacrifice that Hassan made for Amir cant be described in mere words. The scene that summed up this story was the one under the pomegranate tree when Hassan refused to retaliate against Amir despite him throwing pomegranates towards him, it is the most raw scene in the book and just sums up the deep love and kinship these two characters had.
