This is not a typical alphabet book. The artist sometimes includes a full short poem, and sometimes a part of a poem, but something that evoked an image. The art is brilliant and beautiful, with a full page of art to go with each selection. A word in the poem that starts with the letter of the alphabet featured on that page is bolded. It is a great way to introduce poetry, African American poets, and art along with the alphabet and sounds.
