All movies from Rex Allen were cheaply produced as Mr Yetes the boss of Republic pictures was already negotiating to sell Republic, meaning he lost his interest in his business. It was also sad, that Rex Allen didn't have a better agent to continue to produce Allen in other studios. By the way, I think Allen never had an agent. That is, if you believe Allen's Biography.
I remember when I was a boy, and I wanted to watch Rex Allen's movies in Brazil, I couldn't enter the cinemas, given the extraordinary cues. And this went on for years. Not that I went too late to the cinemas, but in comparison with Roy Rogers, Monte Hale, Tim Holt, and Rocky Lane (who by the way was an actor, who gave a marvelous touch of sarcasm to his movies, had the best produced, and most important, the best story-content in his 50 films). Rex Allen draw an incredible multitude to the cinemas. Later in my life I found a cinema, who screened only these old movies, and they launched all those "oldies" again... I came to watch several movies of Rex Allen.
South Pacific Trail - was his Best. It had all the ingredients. And they clicked all together. Therefore, I bought all his films on Tape to scrutinize them. From his 20-Movies. 9-are very nice. 11-are dreadful.
