The environmental message of this documentary is to show how much of a negative impact we humans put on the ocean. There are multiple factors to consider when taking in what is affecting the ocean. It is not just plastics that is adversely affecting the ocean, which many people know as one of the main issues. It is also overfishing, hunting, and killing of marine life, whether it be because of competition or bycatch. There are also huge patches of garbage floating around the world, as well as fishing nets or equipment that kill off animals in the ocean as well. The ocean is a place where 80% of all life lives and is a source for food for many people and animals. But due to human involvement, many fish species are going extinct. We are damaging our oceans and overkilling much of the life within it. The main message of the doc is to be aware of how much humans affect other wildlife, especially in the oceans. Bycatch killing, illegal fishing, sea floor damage, creating endangered species, all human actions, are destroying the ocean.
