[A story about humanities' struggle in a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by a deadly virus] [Personal note]: Most PROFESSIONAL journalists acclaim TLOU2 as a masterpiece, and praise Naughty Dog for writing the story they wanted. Even though the story doesn't have that road movie feel from the original game, it still leagues above most games that have come out this generation. Meanwhile, fan backlash because of a key story element that leaked a month prior to release, has resulted in a bombardment of low scores at Metacritic (reason why I never trust gamer score or reviews). [Thus, take my review as an OPINION] The story of TLOU2 shifts it's focus to Ellie this time around, and it also introduces a new (controversial) character called Abby (her arms are bigger than mine), that some people will find difficult to accept (understand). From the very beggining, the game makes it very clear that you're going to embark in a dark and tragic tale that is driven by one thing only, vengeance. Character development is superb as we watch Ellie continue to evolve from the teenager we met in the original game, to the young woman she has become now and to the person she will turn to as the story keeps progressing. The game world continues to be as believable as in the original game, as it shows the player no mercy if mistakes are made (like dropping your guard and walking into a situation unprepared.) As we've grown accustomed to, Naughty Dog never fails to deliver state of the art graphics and TLOU2 is no exception. Breathtaking sceneries across northwest USA and highly detailed textures look amazing on the PS4 Pro with a 4K TV. Music and sound effects are top quality stuff. It sounds so realistic, sometimes my dog would just start barking all alarmed whenever I broke a window (ha!). The music is on point with the game's vibes, even that time when I heard the enemy listening to Ice Cube's "Today Was a Good Day" through his headphones. All I can say is that TLOU2 is a game for people who understand that in this world, sometimes things won't go as planned and bad stuff happens to good people. It also serves as a reminder that every action that we take, brings consequences.
