I would approach this game for what it is; a cheap no-frills co-op action hack-n-slash. If, like me, you were a fan of the old Dark Alliance games, this is not the same. If you combined the repetitive gameplay loop of Dragon Age Inquisition multiplayer with LotR: war in the north and put a D&D skin over the whole thing, then you have Dark Alliance. Kill, loot, equip, repeat. There is little depth, minimal end game (currently), and not much in the way of world building. My biggest gripe is that nothing seems draw me in that much. Yea there are lots of enemies but really you can just run past 90% of enemies, loot chests, kill the captains or whatever that drop loot, and just go slay the end boss. I mean you don’t HAVE to, but the fact that killing enemies amounts to little more than, “do it cuz they are there,” just kind of takes away from the experience.
That being said, for what it is, it’s fun enough for a game pass game. If you don’t have game pass I probably wouldn’t recommend buying it. Not at full price.
Overall I give it three because there is nothing terribly wrong with the game, but nothing great either. Take this all from the perspective that I didn’t have to buy this game, I would feel like I wasted $30, it’s fun cuz it’s a game pass game.
