The Rockford Files was an unpretentious, unashamed presentation of the real life as opposed to the pretentious one, in a society that was rife with people who thought they found the golden ring in crime and deceit. Too bad the bad guys cast were hokey and almost Batman-like in their characterisation and bad acting----and of the sameness that got old. There was a lot of pathos; the meaningful experiences that you would never forget, and the near-miracle of friendship of a police detective who comprehended the same purposes of himself and Jim Rockford, though with certain limitations. Through it all, it is about Jim Rockford, just living his life naturally.
