Survivor was my absolute favorite show and something my family bonded over for years. My sister and I would watch every Wednesday and as soon as it was over, my dad would call and we’d talk about what we watched and what we thought would happen next. My dad lives in a different state and it was nice to have something we all liked. I fan-girled and met different players throughout the years. I killed survivor trivia and I’d seen every season, even applying to play last year.
Season 41 changed all of this. Now, I’m about done with the show. We’re living in a world where race and gender are constant subjects of conversation and argument. We’re watching society crumble and people treat each other in terrible ways and we’re seeing first hand how people are using their race, gender, or sexual orientation as a crutch in life. Tv is supposed to be an escape and Survivor was always that for me. It isn’t anymore. By trying to be a part of the times, Survivor had become a “Woke” disaster of a show. The challenges aren’t uniques or interesting, the twists are insane and overkill, the idols and advantages are ridiculous, and the game has become less about being a good player and more about your background and the advantages you may be LUCKY enough to find. It’s not interesting to watch, it’s not a brand new game like they say. It’s a ruined version of the old game. Plain and simple. This isn’t worthy of watching anymore and it makes me incredibly sad. We waited so long for a new season after never going more then a year without one and this is what we spent all of our time anticipating? If you want to watch survivor. Pretend that there are only 40 seasons! Trust me. The old school ones are great and it’s amazing seeing the game evolve over time but once you hit 30-35, it already starts getting a little too progressive. 41 is just the final straw. With no likable players and the crazy BS about “Come on in” instead of the classic “Come on in GUYS,” they lost me.
Sadly, I’m done with the show. I’ll cherish the older seasons as I re-watch and reminisce on when Survivor truly was a show for all ages and that families could enjoy together. It’s no longer considered that.
