I knew nothing about this series when it popped up on Netflix. Not a thing. And I was... a little confused, for a bit, about the alternate history it has created. But I see this series as a love letter to the "Golden Age" of Hollywood; a wistful pouring out to someone we love so much, but in whom we are so disappointed, pointing out all the ways they could have treated us better. It says "we love you, but you should have been better". And it may be saying "we love you, but you CAN be better".
I think the actors are good. I think the story is a lovely fiction, and one I welcome.
I'm not sure it deserves to be so panned, when viewed as I have viewed it.
Hey. It coulda been that way. It wasn't. But maybe it shoulda been, kid.
