This was probably the last best thing I saw either Nick Nolte or Barbara Streisand do. Unfortunately they have both kind of aged out of the game. Streisan is an icon, but Notle is too curmudgeonly to allow him to get away with what he does in old age. I thought his characterization as Bruce Banner's father in Ang Lee's Hulk was embarrassingly bad. In this film, Streisand and Nolte impress. I think the tears and love and the joy they portray feels real. And kudos to Bradley Copper for getting everyone else in Hollywood sober.
