Truly awful. The lead’s acting was little more than a self conscious twitching face. Her responses were all wrong, it was similar to the mirror acting seen on Peeky Blinders. She was so bad that when her mother was on the screen it looked like they were in two different series. For a woman that was supposed to be a great communicator, she seemed unable to communicate with her husband who did little wrong other than drink and become depressed. He did not abuse her but she ran off to a refuge and made declarations about being abused. Abuse must mean not being able to provide the life she hoped for in her mind. The main protagonist also seemed to believe her father was an abuser with no real evidence. He seemed very caring but also guilty of being drunk and depressed by the protagonist’s mother. You could hardly blame him. It is an extremely anti-Male story. All the men are deficient but the women all strong. In short, this is no more than misandrist propaganda. The main character is not likeable on any level and did not even need to leave her husband in the first place. She could have attempted to work things out but chose to act the victim. This strategy paid off because other strong women were prepared to ruin her hapless ex-partner with law suits.. Truly awful. I hope we see no second series. I don’t care what happens to this talentless, face twitcher.
