I've always been a fan of the play and was looking forward to this when the first trailer dropped. The visuals never struck me as strange... maybe because I play as a Khajiit in Skyrim haha but after seeing this movie I gotta say I loved it. Sure, it's weird at times, but it's fun, funny, and whimsical with good singing and dancing choreography. No, this isn't a movie for everybody... but it's treat that this thing made it to release. And for that I'm thankful. As a side note: my wife has never seen nor heard the music for Cats, isn't into musicals, really doesn't like music all that much, and hates cats in general... her review? "It wasn't as bad as the internet made it sound." I wish I could express to y'all how big of a win that is for this movie haha Anyway, enjoy yourself! Let go, have fun, and SEE THIS MOVIE so we can get more of this please.
