This movie was absolutely awful. Definitely not worth $30. Maybe could be entertaining for young children, but couldn’t hold an adult’s attention for anything. The story is confusing and predictable all at once. There were massive plot holes and loose ends that were never tied. The main character is boring and Disney tries too hard to make her a stand-alone, strong female character without really giving her any development beyond that. And she looks so similar to Moana!! The visuals in comparison to other Disney movies before it, especially Moana, are lacking to say the least. And I get that they wanted to be inclusive with this movie by representing Southeastern Asian culture, but it really lacked in my opinion. It was very broad and glazed over. Traditions weren’t really clear and there were so many cliches. I am so disappointed with Disney?! It feels like this movie was just put together with hardly any effort and thrown onto Disney plus with a $30 charge just so they can make an extra buck. Don’t buy it! Wait till it’s free! And even then, I don’t recommend watching it. Save yourself the frustration.
