SEASONS 1 AND 2 ARE AMAZING, season 3 however... I adore Olivia Colman and have appreciated how brilliant she is in other shows (LOVED broadchurch), however season 3 of The Crown has been ruined for me by her version of Queen Elizabeth II. I feel like everyone else on the show made the transition of ‘different actors’ seem non-existent, whereas it feels like Olivia Colman didn’t take Claire Foy’s version into account and is just playing her own version of the queen. They’re like two completely different queens, not one that has grown into the other. It is SO disappointing. Claire Foy was truly so phenomenal playing the Queen and was so amazingly believable in the first 2 seasons! When I watch the show now I don’t see the Queen like I did in the first 2 seasons, I just see Olivia Colman trying to be her. I’m so gutted because the first two seasons were so captivating because every role was executed brilliantly, but the Queen in series 3 truly lets the whole series down. The other cast members of season 3 however (I.e. Tobias and Helena - to name a couple) execute their roles so brilliantly!
