I loved this film. The British are people who understate lots of things, so why expect “in your face” drama from the story-telling by the film makers. The British have rules about items which tell their past history. And the reason so much history has been preserved for Brits is that when these rules are adhered to, all the rest of the world. benefits. The acting is restrained but effective as the facial responses are so telling. The best acting can be done with less words and more close-up human body expression. The understated -ness reflects the times and the respect (at some people’s expense) of tradition. It is our job today to uncover unsaid and unpraised feats of work which need spotlighting, like this film.
I think it was depicted just right emotionally. I give it 5 stars.
