I disagree with the negative reviews. Thought it was excellent, made Comey a combo of a totally decent human being and a man whose sense of what’s right got in the way of doing what’s right. Gave me much more insight into the dilemma. Most uncomfortable was watching the madman ascend to power and how everything he said was an obvious lie, borne out by backstory and history. I so wish it was fictitious. That we are living in the terrible wake of his destruction of America, even with Biden as President, is frightening.

Relationships are complicated. People lie. People hurt each other. Then they change their minds and some are happy and some are not. Oy! Don’t know what to make of this but it’s a great cast. Their is a LOT of explicit sexual dialogue and stripping/nudity so it’s not for a first date or family viewing. The timeline is constantly interrupted so you don’t know whether they are truthful or lying. That made it interesting; time is the 5th character

Tour de force of acting and depiction of mental anguish. The fact that Joe is a cop is not as important to me as a man trying to save a family when he has destroyed his own and the life of another unknown person. It’s about not assuming you know all there is to know about a situation, individuals, or motives. Jake Gyllenhaal was mesmerizing and the anxiety of the story palpable.

Love the sendup of the previous admin, and the Sade reality of the story parallel g climate peril and the pandemic. . But sometimes a little hard to follow. Love the scientists yelling out loud what I’d like to yell.

Wonderful twists and turns. Some stretching of credulity but very binge-worthy And Betty Gabriel is fantastic! Totally believable she deserves and Emmy.

An emotional fanciful romanc. Emily. No ouunt is absolutely spot on with her timing and play off a GSDainst all the other characters. Just wonderful. I immediately downloaded the soundtrack

Timeline and plot line often seemed discombobulated. Bits of her life referred to without backstory or information. She was sued why? Daddy didn’t like him .. why? There were holes in the narrative BUT the performance by Jennifer Hudson was totally amazing and more than worth any plot confusion . I loved the recording scenes at Muscle Shoals. Her backup singer sisters Audra MacDonald and the little girl who played 10yo Aretha were incredible. I gave it a 5 because of the music and Hudson’s believable performance. Bravo!

I’m not African American. I worked with Vietnam vets with combat PTSD for 30 years. The impact of the war, most of the acting most of the time, and the characters and the theme were realistic and compelling. But the plot was chaotic. It got me then lost me. Yes that’s a metaphor but... For me and my Vietnam vet husband, there were too many gigantic leaps in the story line and lack of flow. See it for its message about the Black experience in Vietnam and how those wounds are playing out now in this time of chaos. But for a put together piece..nope for us
