the book more than the film but both make the fundamental mistake of coming to the conclusion that more "wild" will cure the ills of the world and man. in many places this is contradicted by other statements. David and his researchers of modern agriculture is very lacking in science and substance. there are many places in the Australian farming belt where soil organic levels are now higher than in the natural bush close by. this is due to no till farming, fertiliser use and subsequent increased root activity. also nowhere does the film or the book state the well known fact that old growth forrest exudes about as much carbon from rotting material as is absorbed by leaves in the canopy. contrast this with well established crops and pastures which absorb more carbon and exude less due to the inherent productivity of increased soil sequestration of carbon from increased root activity and removal of carbon by animals or grain. Unfortunately WWF has slanted David's work
