The "deep" message this movie tries to portray is so painfully obvious it's insulting. I know it's supposed to be one of those movies that runs on cringe humor and awkward moments, but this movie did not do them well. "Bizaare" is right. It does portray naivety passably, both in the parents and in the main character. My takeaway from this movie is that it is a portrayal of delusion rather than a coming of age story about a girl who finds a way to bring magic into her adult life, which it so cliche-edly tries to accomplish.
