Ok, in all honesty, I went in with really low expectations after seeing the ratings... But OH MY GOODNESS, I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS!!!!!! I had an absolute BLAST during the movie and couldn’t look away the entire time (so much so that this is one of the VERY few movies I’ve ever written a review for). I was so hesitant to watch this movie, but I’m so glad I did! I was pleasantly surprised by how reasonably characters reacted to their situation (read: NOT STUPID). Even the kids acted reasonably for middle schoolers, which automatically gave this movie +20 points in my book, and I audibly gasped on multiple occasions. There are a couple predictable moments, but I had a blast just guessing what would happen along the way (and being proved wrong too)! The characters are likable, and I even warmed up to the ones that I found slightly annoying at the beginning. The concept itself was so interesting to delve into, and the connections made back to the previous foreshadowing in the film were very satisfying. (**slight spoiler alert: I’m also particularly satisfied they took into account any atmospheric and evolutionary changes Earth/humanity would have in the future). It almost has an Inception-type vibe (but I personally enjoyed this film much more!). I’m sure others will have some more technical narrative critiques, but for me, this movie absolutely hit ALL marks for a fantastically fun time. If you enjoy time travel/scifi/action movies, or just extremely interesting and creative concepts, this will definitely scratch that itch! If you’re unsure, I would at least give it a shot, it might surprise you (like it did for me!). I will definitely be going into movies with a more open mind in the future :)
