F9 is unfortunately the nadir of this franchise. Lost already with numbers 7 & 8, the charm that had been it had given us about racing sub-culture, great cars, the idea of loyalty, and a touch of chicks in bikinis fun, is simply gone. Awash in clichés borrowed from the best moments of the other movies, a plot with little point, and the injection of resurrections and new family members that detract from some of the series' poignant moments, the absurdity devolves so far that we find Tyrese Gibson and Ludacris in space. The series has given us some fun-to-watch films, and with 5, even touches of a serious movie. Except for a few moments around Dom's origins story, however, this is just stealing money for a movie one could make by melting your Fast 7 & 8 blue-rays together. It could have been Rogue One or Star Trek with Chris Pine. Instead it was one of the last seasons of Friends where the whole thing just got stupid.
