You've got to watch Malaal in theatres ASAP if you're an old-school, die-hard romantic, like me.
The reason it's witnessing such poor footfalls in theatres despite the Sanjay Leela Bhansali banner(Bhansali Productions) is the lack of effective promotions, and since the leads are new-comers.
Malaal is simplicity at it's best, effervescently brimming with such an innocent soul, set in old-world charm of 90's where love used to bloom slowly over hand-written love-notes. Shiva & Aastha's old-school romance literally grows on you, reminding you of your teenage day's butterflies-in-stomach first love. The complexity of Shiva's character(Played by Meezaan Jafri) will make you root for him. Also, the fact that he's hot and cute simultaneously(with brownie points for his kickass moves in Aila Re) is eye-candy enough to not bore you throughout Malaal's 2 hr 16 mins of runtime. The epic soundtrack composed by #SanjayLeelaBhansali hits the right chords and is prolly the next best thing about Malaal, the first being Meezan. Sharmin Segal(female lead) looked fresh with her natural curls, and girl-next-door vibes. The cinematography captures the passion of Old Bombay, the city that never sleeps. If not for anything, watch it for the debutante leads, who leave no stone unturned in proving it that they're here to stay.
