I've been playing this game since fifa 2002 when I first really started becoming interested in football. I used to go watch millwall with my old man most Saturdays and then we would play head 2 head against each other when we got home. This still happens now he's 50 next month and isn't as good as he used to be. I have loved this game for years and years and remember building super teams in career mode throughout the years. Fifa 06 or 08 signing a young messi and watching him grow as a player till he topped out at 99 and building a team around him along the way. I will not however be buying next years edition. I have become aware of the gameplay mechanics slowly taken a turn for the worse and scripting has always been present. Ea Sports Fifa Football however is no longer interested in the fans the game play the bond between father and son the super teams in career mode or putting any effort into anything other than finding the best way to exploit the market and bleed it dry for every penny that his has. I like many others have been sucked in to the Ultimate Team Trap over the years tempted in by heroes of old and legends of the game being dangled just passed arms reach thinking eachpack I open will be the big one, the next one will score me big. Tempted by the flashing lights and the thought of a shiny card at the end of the tunnels or fireworks or more recently sparks with different tints. I have build a decent squad to be proud of this year not even knowing anymore how much I have pumped into it. But the same pattern happens time and time again. You dominate for 4 or 5 games and then the window comes crashing down, the hatch open and another open palm comes out demanding more. You're happy with your squad content that you dont need to make any more changes. You do however begin to notice players begin to under perform. The first touch of your 92 rated star strikes isn't quite what it was. Your usually solid defensive line starts leaking chances and goals. And you're goalkeeper couldn't catch a cold. You then go back into the market because you havent got enough coins to fix this new found problem and the cycle continues. I by no means claim to be the best player I would say average at best but i know when exploits are in play. I've seen it myself happen for me against another side. The games where your striker cant stop scoring, you're wingers skips passed players with ease and everything nestles nicely in the corner. Amazing you think, I've cracked it. The following game the roles reverse and ighalo nets 5 rockets from outside the box. As I said before I used to love this game. Played it through good times and bad in my life used it as a distraction. Before nights out with mates and sometimes just after a awful day at work. But I today truly played my last game until I hear there are significant changes to the game, and EA actually begins to make and effort into the core of it to bring it back to the glory days.
