I don’t even know where to begin. This movie sucks. I think that’s a good start.
I mean, the premise of a robot going on a journey of self discovery is already out there. The ease with which the robot is created, the haphazardness of what he should and should not know is just poor and lazy writing, and the fact the robot crushed the metal steps of the RV due to his weight, yet not the wood frame of the dinette or the aluminum beach chair is mystifying.
Did Hanks owe someone a huge favor, or was a family member being held hostage by the producers of this complete debacle of a movie? And how is Robert Zemeckis attached to this mess? Is he being threatened as well?
The dialog is so cheesy and corny that I found myself shaking my head throughout. The only reason I stuck it out was my 10 year old was into it and it was worth the sacrifice to cuddle with him.
The robot role should have been switched to some kid Hanks runs into while out scavenging for food. I guess the director thought the little scamp concept was too played out so let’s use a robot instead! Yeah, that’s the ticket!
Finch tries to be deep and meaningful but it comes off as contrived and forced. Avoid.
