I am curious if anyone can tell me the source or sources of the story for this film. The writer's references, the director's motivation, etc? Honestly curious to get feedback.

I just watched The Words. There seemed to be a missing component to the ending. Not sure if it's just that Dennis Quaid realizes at the end that he needs to go back to his wife. In that case it's not too impactful because we know nothing about Quaid's character's wife. Disappointing ending to an otherwise captivating movie.
