I would read this book as if you were reading a Startrek or Harry Potter book. There's a lot of interesting concepts and the author mentions several spiritual principles I agree with and practice daily.
But this isn't a conversation the author had with God. This is a collection of personal ideas that go along with the author's desired lifestyle. A majority of these ideas are contradictory to the Word of God. I feel like this series can really misguide and give people false ideas that are trying to start and/or continue their spiritual journey towards God.
I read a review that stated God doesn't communicate "verbally" with someone, I feel like it's extremely foolish to place limitations on what God can/can't or will/won't do. I only read the first book since I believe it to be pointless to continue with the series.
There are 3 main ideas the author mentions that I would like to follow up with a scripture from the Bible. I could choose several more but I think it would be more beneficial for you to search the Word of God yourselves.
1. There is no good and bad.
Psalm 34:14
"Turn from evil and do good, seek peace and pursue it."
2. Our choices have no consequences.
Revelation 3:15
"Those who I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent."
3. There is no he'll.
Psalm 9:17
"The wicked go down to the realm of the dead, all the nations that forget god."
Conviction hurts... but it's necessary.
God loves us, but does hold us accountable for out choices.
