The character of Ariel was not one I could warm to, portrayed as a spoiled brat who thought only of herself until the end. Prince Eric couldn’t act. Beautifully filmed but preferred the cartoon.

This is awful - cliched, badly acted, cringeworthy and laboured. Lily Collins underwhelms in the titular role, and many of the other actors are hammy and appear as if they’re acting in a pantomime. Americans trying to live in Paris but not bothering to learn the language or blend into the background, in the mistaken belief that everyone will love them for it. Really, don’t waste your time.
