Best I can say it is no worse (actually maybe better) than the Michael Bay Transformer films. Good special effects, one dimensional cliche characters that fill their respecitve story roles appropriately. For what it is, it is fine... it's fine.

I've tried to like this show, it's Star Trek... but it is written and run by people who either dislike or don't understand what fans of the previous series enjoyed about the series. It could have worked as it's own 'Space Adventure Show' (poorly written as it was), but insulting the intelligence of the audience by trying to shoehorn in that it fits with original series was ridiculous. Dark Matter the now defunct sci-fi series that has some oddly similar components was more enjoyable, heck Killjoys as an over the top show is more enjoyable. If the audience has to keep making excuses for the show and bend over backwards to accommodate the extreme lengths the shows goes to pretend it is somehow inspired in any real way by Star Trek instead of just a slapped on name for 'market recognition', then why watch this at all? That said, if you've never seen the old series (or thought Star Trek had too much discussion and diplomacy), then this is the series for you.
