Combat system is good but the the balance is god awful. Your AI pals are garbage and do almost no damage and you have no control over how they fight when you are controlling a different character. There is not enough monsters to grind materia levels with. The game ends when leaving midgar which leaves me to believe the following story is going to be missing a lot of details. Midgar was a small but important part of the story initially.
