Reis Kameraad

I liked the story, it had a lot of potential. But overall there were too many details that did not make much sense. I won’t add any spoilers here, but one nagging question: WHY did Hal continue to stay in the dreary attic bedroom far away from the other family members, even as many of the other guests had returned home? Certainly in a mansion that size there would have been plenty other empty rooms to choose from?? And enough caring family members to advocate for her to be put up in more hospitable surroundings?!? I am also still very confused about the motives behind the main plot twist. Too many things were never explained, or simply explained away by saying “Hal suddenly understood” without actually going into detail about what she actually figured out, or how exactly. Not the best Ruth Waring book.
