I never saw the original. This version is great and my 12 year old thought so too. The director did a great job of making the audience feel what the characters are feeling: love, anxiety, frustration, and happiness. It’s even suspenseful. The dogs are adorable and the details and architecture of the house is beautiful to observe. The married couple is culturally reflective which makes it a nice update from the original, I assume.
