The three star rating is of my own personal opinion and preferences. I would give it a 3.5 rating if that was possible. I was expecting a lot more to happen. In my opinion, movie goers can wait till home release to see this movie. I understand now from seeing it myself the mixed reviews of the critics. I don't go by what they say, I judge according to what I see, but I really do see why people don't like the movie or see why it could be better. Much, much better. Go see it if you want and make your own opinions of it.
Towards the ending of the moving I was expecting some type of happy ending that led towards the title, "Rise of Skywalker". Well, beware of a major spolier alert below and you have been warned before you see it so if you don't want major nuggets to ruin the movie for you, DO NOT READ DOWN! I REPEAT! DO NOT READ DOWN!
Rey is not a "Skywalker" she's Palpatine's granddaughter and at the end of the movie, when she lands on Tatooine, upon seeing Luke and Leia's force ghosts, calls herself a skywalker after a woman asks who she is. Like dude. I was expecting her to give birth to a skywalker from Kylo Ren/ Ben solo seeing his major character shift in the movie and after they kissed. Two seconds later Kylo/Ben drops dead from reviving Rey from her own death. Call me a romantic, but really? You kill off Ben solo? Like if you're to get creative and stray from the original material then at least make it believable. The whole movie had a couple comical points, a couple familiar faces, and the ending that I mentioned above about Rey taking on the Skywalker name. You don't just take on the "Skywalker" name. I understand the sentiment behind it all, but come on man. Cheesy fanfictions or not, at least do some justice.
If not for the hype and seeing the last two movies in this series, knowing what I know now, I would have waited for a home release myself instead of having to go to the movies to see it.
The last two movies I think were better.
